UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS MEDICAL CENTER SELECTS THE AUDIT GROUP FOR ACCOUNTS PAYABLE/PURCHASING REVIEW AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas recently chose The Audit Group, Inc. (TAG) of Chesterfield, MO to conduct a review of its accounts payable and purchasing stream for fund recoveries and process improvements.The KU medical center serves Kansans through its teaching program, medical care, and research facilities.

It has primary teaching and care facilities in suburban Kansas City, Wichita, and Salina, KS. Its JayDoc Free Clinic in Wyandotte County, KS is staffed by medical students and serves 2,000 uninsured county residents each year.

Today, all large, complex healthcare systems are under pressure to produce greater financial efficiencies and profitability.  Using an outside, independent audit company to evaluate their supply chains, recover lost funds, and recommend process improvements is a trend toward affecting those positive financial results.

TAG’s audit of the KU medical center will examine its purchasing contracts, statements, returned goods, pricing, and other areas for funds lost through error or oversight.   When TAG discovers that a hospital overpaid on goods, for example, the company then works with vendors to recover the overpaid funds for the hospital.

During the audit process TAG reviews its client’s policies and practices and recommends improvements for future savings.
